ALTAR TOOLS, BOTTLES, WRITING SUPPLIES, AND LAUNDRY SPRINKLERS
Those who perform rituals, engage in spiritual practices, set
lights, or practice spell-craft on a regular basis usually find it convenient to
maintain one or more altars where the work is performed. We believe that a well-
appointed altar can be created from a simple table, nightstand, or chest of
drawers. A drawer or box beneath the altar surface is convenient to use as
storage space for supplies. Among the ritual tools and supplies that most
spiritual workers like to have on hand are writing supplies for petitions;
candle holders, candle snuffers, and specialty wooden matches for use in candle
magick; cloth bags for the making of mojo hands or to hold herbs for brewing as
teas or baths, and altar cloths appropriate to the type of work being done.

CANDLE
HOLDERS
FOR CANDLE SPELLS

When a candle is burned in a spell, it is sometimes convenient to
place it in a candle stand. This is especially true of offertory candles and
small altar candles which are easily tipped over if they are not put into a
holder of some kind. Candle stands with hollow bases have the additional benefit
of providing a hiding place for the names and personal concerns of the one for
who the work is being done. For complete discretion, tape the name-paper and
items inside and then fit a circle or square of green felt to the bottom of the
candle with contact cement. No one will know there is anything inside, but the
candle stand will be "fixed" for the trick you are doing.

Incense may be burned in any non-flammable container, but most people prefer
to place their charcoal disks and incense in a specially made incense brazier or
incense burner that stands on legs, so that the heat of the burning charcoal
will not mar their altar or table surface. One old-fashioned name for this
common altar tool is a thurible, and during rituals, the person who tends to the
incense, especially when it is kept in a hanging thurible and waved about during
the services, is called the thurifer. For home use, a standing incense brazier
is generally preferred, and it should be large enough to hold a charcoal disk
and resin incense. Stick incense (agarbathi sticks) are often burned in special

We offer some very interesting wall altars. Check for the
availability of our Thai Wall Altars. These are the same kind of
Thai wall altars that many folks will recognize having seen in Thai
restaurants. They are made of red laquered wood with a gilded plastic
railing and front piece on which is depicted a praying Thai spirit-
entity (sometimes called an "angel" or a "fairy" by Thai people in
America). Altars come complete with a metal hanger on the back.
Two sizes available. Although these are Buddhist in origin, they look
great with any sort of sacred statuary on them. We do not always have
these items in stock so you need to check availability when ordering.

are many types of bottle spells used in folk magic traditions from
around the world. Almost every culture that uses bottles (or gourds,
or animal horns) as containers also has developed ways to use those
containers to hold works of magical spell craft.
A spell bottle is a bottle into which a magical spell has been
cast in the form of physical items used to ensure that the spell
results in the desired outcome. A bottle spell is a magical spell
that is contained within a bottle, and which, when finished, is
expected to work for the ends one desires.

WHAT IS HOODOO?
Hoodoo is a form of
predominantly African-American folk magic, unlike
Voodoo, which is an African
religion. Hoodoo, also known as
conjure, rootwork, and tricking, is a down
home, old-style form of folk-magic practice
that developed in Southern states like
Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee,
Kentucky, Virginia, Louisiana, North
Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and
Missouri from the joining of a number of
separate cultures and magical paths.
Hoodoo primarily consists of African and
Native American herbalism and sorcery,
into which has been incorporated elements of
wisdom and spell-casting from Scottish,
Irish, English, Jewish, and European
traditions of witchcraft, granny-magic,
shamanism, kitchen-witchery, enchantment,
and occult grimoires. Regional synonyms for
hoodoo include
conjuration,
conjure,
witchcraft, or
rootwork.
